How to choose a laser marking machine?

Selecting a marking machine starts with the material you want to mark. The material determines the type of laser source – then you select the power, working field and machine configuration.

Fibre Laser Marking Machine – for metals

A fibre laser at 1064 nm wavelength is the most commonly chosen type of marking machine. It marks steel, stainless steel, aluminium, brass, copper, gold, silver and titanium, as well as many technical plastics. It works well for serial numbers, QR and DataMatrix codes, logos, nameplates and jewellery engraving. See 2D Fibre Laser Marking Machines.

The MOPA variant allows you to adjust the pulse duration. This makes it possible to achieve colour markings on stainless steel, black and contrasting marks on anodised aluminium, and gentler processing of plastics.

UV Laser Marking Machine – for plastics and glass

A UV laser (355 nm) uses so-called cold marking – it heats the material minimally. This is a good choice for plastics, glass, ceramics, electronics, packaging and medical products, where discolouration and distortion must be avoided. See UV Laser Marking Machines.

CO₂ Laser Marking Machine – for wood, leather and paper

CO₂ laser (10.6 µm) works best on organic and non-metallic materials: wood, plywood, leather, paper, cardboard, acrylic and fabrics. See CO₂ Laser Marking Machines.

3D Marking Machine – for curved surfaces

A 3D marker with dynamic focusing keeps focus at different heights, so it marks curved surfaces, steps and complex shapes without repositioning the workpiece. See 3D Fibre Laser Marking Machines.

Power, working field and configuration

  • Power 20–30 W – surface marking of metals, codes, logos and serial numbers.
  • Power 50–100 W – faster work and deep metal engraving.
  • Working field – in our markers from 70 × 70 mm to 300 × 300 mm, selected by lens to match workpiece size.
  • Configuration – desktop, enclosed (housing shields the beam), portable for marking large components on-site, with autofocus, rotary table or belt feeder with camera for series production.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a laser marking machine cost?

Prices for laser marking machines in our range start from 1 814 € excl. VAT. The price depends on the laser source type (Fibre, UV, CO₂), power, working field and equipment. We will prepare a quote for your specific configuration after a brief discussion about your requirements.

Which laser marking machine is best for metal?

For metals, choose a Fibre laser marker (1064 nm). For codes, logos and serial numbers, 20–30 W is usually sufficient; for deep engraving, 50–100 W is worth considering. If you need colour marking on stainless steel or black marking on aluminium, select a MOPA source.

What software does the marking machine use?

Our laser markers run on EzCAD software, which supports text, vector graphics, barcodes, QR and DataMatrix codes, and automatic numbering.

Do I need fume extraction when marking?

Yes – marking produces fumes and dust that should be extracted away from the operator and optics. We offer filter extraction units for our markers.

Do you provide service for marking machines?

Yes. We provide service and technical support for laser machines. Contact us and we will help you select a marking machine for your production.
